Happy 2018.

As far as I know you survived 2017 and it is time to start the new year off right.  Hopefully the new year has time for you to come to the gym and be able to commit some time for yourself.  We have seen a lot of empty classes over the holiday season and hope this week everyone is able to get back on schedule.

First off, lets talk the basics of nutrition.  January is when a lot of people take on nutrition challenges or make a commitment to change their diet, but unfortunately most of this doesn’t stick.  There is no need to make eating healthy any more complicated than the basic nutrition recommendations from CrossFIt:

“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar.  Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.”

If you are looking to change your nurtition, start with the above statement and cut out the sugar, grains, and dairy from your diet.  If you are ready to dive in head first then I fully support and recommend the Whole 30.  I first did a Whole 30 back in June 2010 and then followed a pretty strict Paleo Diet for about 3 years after that.  Since then we have seen countless members of our gym complete a Whole 30 with great improvements in their body composition, sleep quality, energy levels, and overall well being.  I have not seen anything produce better overall results in someone’s health than this, and you are simply eating real wholesome foods.

Next. let’s work on getting back on a regular schedule.  If you are on a 3 day a week membership, take advantage of what you are paying and get in here 3 days a week. If you pay for an unlimited membership, then we should be seeing you in here 5-6 days a week.  We have classes during the week as early as 5am and as late as 7pm so it will fit into most people’s schedules if it is made into a priority. If you have to hit up a difference class time every day to make that happen, then do it and meet new people in classes you don’t normally attend.

If you haven’t already done so, plesase take the time to commit to your health, fitness, and well being for 2018.  We are here to help you achieve your goals and never hesitate to ask our opinions or recommendations.  Emily, Jason, Gabe, and I are all here for you and look forward to a lot of hard work and big results this year.
